Your day begins at 7AM at Sahai Lao Coffee, where the aroma of a freshly brewed cup welcomes you as warmly as the team itself. With a comforting coffee in hand and a small takeaway breakfast, you meet your guide and the other travelers joining you for this authentic immersion into northern Laos.
Soon after, you set off on a scenic drive toward the mountains. As the road winds upward, your guide shares stories about Lao coffee, its history, its role in local communities, and the challenges faced by the farmers who grow it. The journey sets the tone for a day rooted in culture, tradition, and discovery.

You arrive at the Hmong village of Long Lan around 8:30AM, where a member of your host family greets you with genuine warmth. You stroll through the village together, learning about daily life, discovering seasonal fruits and vegetables, and hearing how medicinal plants are used in traditional healing. This personal welcome offers a first glimpse into the resilience and generosity of Hmong culture.
By around 9:30AM, you continue on to the family’s coffee farm, nestled in lush mountain scenery. Here, you step directly into the world of sustainable agriculture. With a basket in hand, you help pick ripe red cherries and learn how each stage, from harvesting to sorting to hulling, shapes the flavor of the final cup. Working side by side with the farmers, you begin to understand just how much care goes into every single bean.

Late morning brings a delicious reward at 11:30AM, you’re welcomed back into the family home for a freshly prepared Hmong lunch. Shared around a simple table, the meal is rich in local flavors and warm conversation. Afterward, your host prepares a fresh brew straight from the morning’s harvest, a truly farm-to-cup moment enjoyed in the heart of the village.

The afternoon unfolds gently as you make your way back toward Luang Prabang. By around 2:30PM, you arrive at the Sahai Lao Coffee Lab for the final highlight of the day: roasting your very own batch of coffee. With guidance from the experts, you sort the green beans, control the roast, and package your personalized 200gr. bag, a handcrafted souvenir capturing the essence of your experience.
The tour end at 4:00PM, as you leave with warm roasted beans in your hands, unforgettable memories in your mind, and a deeper appreciation for the people and traditions behind one of the world’s most beloved drinks.
